Hi everyone,
We had a great time in Chaing Mai. We went to see the tigers and we played in a cage with one month old baby tigers. We were holding them and playing with them. So cute and an awesome feeling to hold those beautiful animals. Then on to sit and stroke larger ones 6 months old and then with the older ones. Right in their habitate with them. So beautiful. Next to see the Panda's and they put on quite a show for us. They were play fighting and knocking each other off swings etc. Got some great pictures. Of course another highlight was the Elephant ride. Up over steep hills on their back looking so far down. They are magnificent animals. I bought a bunch of bananas and some sugar cane which they love and made the mistake of getting to close and up came this big trunk and stole everything. All the bananas and the 5 big sticks of sugar cane. We watched a great show with the elephants and watched them paint pictures. Of course I had to buy two. They do a great job of painting and I think a neat thing to have to frame for the cottage. We spent a great time hunting around for your snake oil Verona but finally got a contact. I have emailed this medicine man and am waiting for a response. Hopefully we will have some luck when we get back to Bangkok.
We are now in Samui in the south and plan to stay here for the last of our trip. We hope to snorkel, and do some day trips. We just got here today so will fill you in later. Oh!!! Val and I have had some awesome massages but nothing like the two hr. one we had yesterday in Chaing Mai. There is absolutely nothing like the Thai massage. Plan on one or two more before returning home. Just about got Dick talked into one. And Reg, well not sure yet. Anyway hugs to all and will email in a couple of days. Dick and Anita

Chaing Mai Bound
Hi All,
Since being in Hoi An, we have visited Nha Thrang on the beach. Went on a terrific tram over the ocean to an island. Only there one night and on to Ho Chi Minh City. Went to the Chi Tunnels where the Vietcon had an underground city going on during the Vietnam War, unbelievable. Got lots of pictures including one of me going underground through a tiny tunnel. Dick and the others couldn't go as so small. I just made it. I have got unreal pictures and the story of this tunnel is to say the least unbelievable because of some of the traps etc. that they built during the war. We also saw the war museum, again very hard to see the atrocities that took place during this war.
We flew from Ho Chi Minh and are no at Bangkok airport waiting to board to Chaing Mai in the North of Thailand. We left Vietnam via Ho Ch Minh. We plan to elephant ride and see mountain tribes and do as much as we can before heading south to Puket or Samui. Not sure which southern part. Will make that decision before leaving Chaing Mai. The asian airlines, Vietnam Air and Bangkok Air treat you so well. We are now in a holding area sponsored by Bangkok Air with free fresh fruit, coffee, tea, drinks, and appies. Lying down areas to sleep, free internet etc.etc. We have had a 5 hr. wait for the plane to Chaing Mai but have been treated very very well.
Hello to everyone at home and Dick's children and friendscan email us at rvjalava@hotmail.com and then we will have your addresses to email back. Must run Hugs to all Anita and Dick

In Hanoi
Hi all,
Hong Kong was awesome. Great tram ride up the largest mountain. Seeing into peoples rooms in High Rises on the way up. Ken, you saw this when you were here, I think. The view from the top was awesome even in the smog. All of Hong Kong surrounded by water so beautiful. We did a market and had our hand at bargaining. That was fun just trying to see how far we could go. Buddah temple where of course we lit insence and burned paper money. All meaning good health, happiness and wealth. With chinese superstitions we should be millionaires by the time we get home. LOL We visited a fine jewellery manifacturer where of course they tried to make sales with us. Gorgeous stuff. Dick is very proud of me. I didn't take the bait. We ate out in chinese style and had a tour of the city.
We are now in Hanoi and man thought we were putting our lives in our drivers hands. Bikes and motor bikes everywhere, no lights they just go. It's unreal. We would not attempt even to ride and walking is just as dangerous. Wish I had a movie camera just to show our grandchildren. They would get a hoot out of it all. We are leaving for Halong Bay tomorrow and going on a two day one night cruise. Out to see the islands and the coasts etc. Looking forward to that. We then come back and take a train down to DaNang and arrive there the next day. We will stay probably in Hoi An by the sea and go on tours etc. We won't be in touch for about 3 - 4 days while we complete the above. Will update when we are in Hoi An and tell you about all our wonderful experiences. By the way for Shelley's info. They eat dog here. We saw one roasting on the way in from the airport. That was a tough one, not to be mentioned again. Shelley will kill me for mentioning it. Time to sign off. Love to all and hope you are not getting to soaked with rain. So we've heard. Hot and humid here. Our hotel is great and we are being treated very well. Lovely people. Bye for now. The asian adventurers. LOL xo
